Scaffolding has collapsed on a busy road due to strong winds from Storm Bert.
Police have been in attendance to close Chandos Road in Worthing as scaffolding has completely collapsed.
This comes after a yellow weather warning for wind was issued for most of East and West Sussex from 3pm yesterday due to “dangerous coastal conditions and disruption” with a “small chance” that the weather could cause a danger to life and injuries.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Police have attended to close the road while recovery of the scaffolding is arranged.”
A fire engine can also be seen in attendance of the area to ensure that safety measures are in place.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: "Joint Fire Control received a call at 09:32am and sent one fire engine to attend Chandos Road, in Worthing.
"Upon arrival, the crew provided scene safety, before leaving at 10:42am.
"The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for wind, covering much of West Sussex this weekend.
"We would urge all residents to take extra care in these conditions."
The area surrounding the collapsed scaffolding has been cordoned off.
Planks of wood can be seen all over the road and the metal frame still intact completely turned over on it side.
In Brighton, wind gusts of up to 57 miles per hour are expected over the weekend, accompanied by rain, with the Met Office predicting a similar picture across the county.
A number of events have been cancelled this weekend due to the bad weather, including Christmas light switch ons in Chichester and Littlehampton.
