Sussex’s Reverend Richard Coles has entered the I’m a Celebrity jungle.
Richard moved to Sussex after the death of his husband David Oldham in 2019 and now has a home near the village of Friston.
The now writer turned broadcaster, who also took part in the 2017 series of Strictly Come Dancing, first rose to fame as the multi-instrumentalist in the 80s band The Communards alongside Jimmy Somerville.
The 62-year-old entered the Australian jungle as a late comer alongside Love Island’s Maura Higgins during Thursday’s episode of the ITV hit show, living in a separate camp named the Jungle Junkyard.
Entering the junkyard, Richard said: “It is a very basic camp indeed.
“The only thing I can compare it to is I once fell asleep by some bins outside Amnesia Nightclub in Ibiza.
“I don’t remember very much about it but it’s that level.”

He asked Maura what her greatest fear was, to which she replied spiders.
Richard said his was “looking fat on television”.
Maura described the very basic camp as “not liveable”, before the pair discovered it was full of luxuries – which they were tasked with hiding from their other campmates in a mission to win a jungle buffet.
The mission also saw the pair convince the main camp to donate a bed to them, after writing them a heartfelt letter.
Other celebs in the camp this year include Coleen Rooney, wife of ex footballer Wayne Rooney, dancer Oti Mabuse, Tulisa Contostavlos, of N-Dubz and X Facotr fame, TV presenter Jane Moore and former professional boxer Barry Mcguigan.
The episode also saw radio star Dean McCullough bring home four meals for the camp after taking part in The Lethal Lab.
Meanwhile the campmates were ordered to give up their contraband after McCullough smuggled teabags into the jungle, while Tulisa Contostavlos gave up a bag of seasoning which radio presenter Melvin Odoom had distributed to her.
Higgins and Coles will take part in a bushtucker trial opposite McFly’s Danny Jones and McCullough named The High Street Of Horrors during Friday’s episode.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
