A historic seafront hotel and restaurant has announced its new festive menu.
The White Horses in Rottingdean has put together a Christmas menu made up of “the best of British flavours with a contemporary twist”.
To start, diners can choose from a roasted butternut squash soup topped with artichoke crisps, a “richly flavoured” confit duck leg with mulled wine-poached pear or a prawn and avocado cocktail.
For mains, a roasted free-range turkey with hazelnut and cranberry stuffing, creamed sprouts and a port cranberry gravy is on the menu.
If it's a seafood option you’re after, guests can select the roast cod loin with fennel orange salad and a mussel and cider cream sauce.
The vegetarian option is charred cauliflower with butterbean purée, roasted chestnuts and basil oil, described as “a delicious nod to comforting flavours and textures”.
To finish off, a difficult choice has to be made between the trio of desserts available - a classic Christmas pudding with brandy sauce and honeycomb ice cream, a chocolate mousse with boozy cherries or the savoury-sweet baked brie with apple cider chutney and sourdough toast.
