A man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a car plunged into a river.
Emergency services descended on the riverside near Ropetackle, which is on the A259 in Shoreham, at 1am this morning after a report that a car was partially submerged in the Adur.
Sussex Police arrested a 44-year-old man from Henfield on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and with causing a public nuisance.
The vehicle was recovered from the water and the man was taken into custody, where he remains at this time.
