Contractors are in a ‘race against time’ to repair a pier.
Work has been underway through the day and night to reinforce damaged piles underneath Worthing Pier.
Six new piles and supporting beams have already been installed, with long steel trusses spanning the width of the pier now being put in place.
The pier has been closed since October 10 after suspected storm damage was discovered, leaving the structure unsafe.
Since then, people have been advised not to go under or attempt to enter the pier.
A spokesman for Adur and Worthing councils said: “Contractors have continued to make good progress by maximising every minute available to them when the spring low tides have allowed them safe access to the beach.

“They are now in a race against time to try to complete all the work necessary before we reach the end of this month’s tidal window, on Wednesday evening.
“Each spring low tide is shorter than the one before, meaning we have less and less time on the beach.
“Thank you to everyone for their patience during the disruption on the seafront. We’re trying to limit how much it disturbs anyone but work like this is noisy.”
