A prolific burglar has been sent back to jail for burglary.
William Djama broke into flats in Hanover on two occasions, stealing items including computers, Kindles and a laptop.
His fresh batch of burglaries come after he was released months into a nearly six year prison sentence which he was handed in September 2023.
A hearing at Lewes Crown Court was told that Djama, of College Terrace in Brighton, broke into flats in Freshfield Road and Queensway in Brighton on September 28 and October 5 respectively.
During the break-ins he stole a number of computer and electronic items including a radio, mobile phone and a security camera.
After pawning some of the items for cash, Djama was caught and sent back to jail having recently been released from prison for burglary.
Djama was returned to prison on recall and, after pleading guilty to theft, has now been sentenced to 40 months in prison.
His sentence was combined with a suspended sentence from 2022, also for burglary.
He had been remanded in custody in January 2023 when he was arrested. The Argus understands Djama was released from prison in June 2024, before his most recent offending in September and October this year.
Sussex Police Detective Constable James Botting said: “We understand the terrible impact burglary has on victims, particularly the level of harm caused by prolific offenders like William Djama.
“We will always do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice and remain committed to attending every report of residential burglary in person.
“If you are a victim of burglary or any other crime please report it to Sussex Police online, via 101 or by calling 999 in an emergency.”
