A dog died and a man was arrested and then de-arrested during an incident outside a supermarket.
Officers were called to a report of a dog that was hit by a car in Western Road, Hove, at around 8.30pm on Friday.
A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of breach of the peace and was later de-arrested.
Photographs show several police cars and officers outside the Tesco store in Western Road as they dealt with the situation.
