Five Sussex restaurants have been honoured in the Good Food Awards for their culinary prowess.
Restaurants from across the county have been awarded the Blue Ribbon by the Good Food Awards recognising the best food according to diners.
Eateries including fine dining hotels and Indian street food restaurants are among those to take the award for 2024, released earlier this week.
Jamun – West Street, Brighton
Offering their take on Indian street food, Jamun prides itself on its casual fine-dining food including curries, chaat fried dishes and grilled meats and cheeses.
Launched in December 2023, the restaurant built on successful sites in Hampshire and is the brainchild of Paresh Biswas.
Other highlights on the menu include crispy fried okra and Indochinese dishes such as fried chicken and feta Momo parcels.
Terra at Tottington Manor – Henfield
Winning the Blue Ribbon for the second year in a row is Terra at Tottington Manor. Executive head chef Chris Hilton focuses on taking local produce from Sussex and translating it into vibrant seasonal dishes.
Celebrating the second win, Chris said: "It's such an honour for our menu and our food to be acknowledged in this way, we enjoy doing what we do and guest feedback matters to us and this means so much to all the team.”
The award comes as Tottington Manor was also honoured in the Good Hotel Awards for its Henfield countryside site nestled in the South Downs.
Langham Hotel – Eastbourne
Overlooking Eastbourne seafront, the Langham Hotel restaurant is another site offering a mix of locally sourced fish and an array of pub-style burgers and streaks.
Offering two or three-course meals, the Langham took home the Blue Ribbon for the second year in a row through the work of executive head chef Michael Titherington.
Taking to social media, the hotel said it was “delighted” to win the award and would be proudly displaying it in the hotel reception.
Simon Brown, general manager of the hotel, said: "It's the customers who have helped us achieve it. We are trying to really focus on the restaurant."
E-Street Bar and Grill – Petworth
Hidden in the leafy South Downs village of Petworth, E Street prides itself on its Mediterranean-inspired dishes served from the 17th century red brick building.
The Blue Ribbon is the latest award for the site having been recognised in the Michelin Guide.
La Bella Vista – St Leonards
Opening on St Leonards seafront nine years ago, La Bella Vista aims to use a blend of local and imported ingredients to create authentic Italian cuisine.
Owner Aldo Esposito told The Argus he was “totally overwhelmed” with the latest success for the award-winning restaurant which previously took home a Muddy Stiletto Award for the best restaurant in Sussex in 2019.
He added: “It feels absolutely amazing – we have a group of young, talented people who are absolutely passionate producing authentic Italian food in St Leonards.”
