A Sussex spot "brimming with arts and crafts" has been named one of the best seaside towns to downsize to in the UK.

Eastbourne was included along with 19 other coastal spots in the list from the Daily Mail.

The publication consulted property experts, estate agents and local residents to create their list as well as analyse factors such as house prices and transport links.

They wrote: "What is it about the great British seaside that makes it so popular with downsizers?

The Daily Mail wrote that Eastbourne used to have a reputation for "bus parties full of OAPs sitting on park benches in manicured gardens on the seafront."

However, that's now changed thanks in part to the town "brimming with arts and crafts".

The publication added: "The Turner prize exhibition was recently a big hit in the Towner gallery which operates a Sussex Art Shuttle – a brightly painted mini-bus linking three of Sussex’s favourite art venues.
