Have you ever been told that taking part in a physical activity can improve your mental health and wellbeing? Perhaps it is true!
When asked about this puzzling question, Wendy, the head of Wendy Whatling School of Dance, said that “As well as getting dance training, coming to the school is about community and friendship, learning a discipline, having a structured class but also just feeling safe and doing something that you love. So, I think it’s quite good training for life coming to a dance class as there’s so many different elements."
To get more of an insight into how dance can improve your life, students of varying ages were interviewed about the benefits they felt dance provided. One said that “going to class is a good release and gives you time to express yourself.” Another student said that “It’s lovely seeing smiley faces and being around others who have the same energy and enthusiasm for dance as I do! It also makes me feel better after a bad day.”
So, if dance can help these students improve their wellbeing and mental health maybe it could help you.
This is just one example of the many sports out there that might do the same.
Thank you to lovely team at Wendy Whatling for helping out! https://www.wendywhatlingdance.co.uk/classes
