A city centre pub has commissioned a Remembrance-day inspired mural to remember those lost in the First and Second World Wars.
The Bat and Ball in Brighton’s Ditchling Road adorned the wall of its beer garden with poppies, spitfires and a signpost reading “lest we forget” as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the World Wars.
Pub landlady Lucy Manville said the mural would be staying for the foreseeable future as a permanent tribute to those soldiers who gave their lives.
Lucy, 37, said: “I want something British and this pub is about community.
“There’s so many people who use this pub who are serviceman or ex-servicemen and women. It’s important that we do remember so this will be here for the foreseeable future.”
The pub unveiled the freehand graffiti mural which was designed by Brighton artist Glimmer Twin who has worked with Fatboy Slim and created murals across the city.
The Bat and Ball has now also been adorned with poppies and bunting to commemorate Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day on November 10 and 11.
