Four people were arrested, three people were taken to hospital and a telegraph pole was set alight at Lewes Bonfire yesterday evening.
Around 40,000 people crowded into the historic town for its annual bonfire celebrations, which sees effigies paraded through the streets and set alight.
Sussex Police confirmed they had made four arrests after a teenager was reportedly found with a knuckle duster and reports of assaults and a man being drunk and disorderly.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said they had dealt with three different incidents in Lewes as well as a firework in a bin on Hove seafront.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said on social media: “Sussex Police can confirm that four arrests were made.
"A 15-year-old boy previously arrested on suspicion of possession of a knuckle duster has since been de-arrested.

"A second man, aged 24, was arrested on suspicion of common assault. A third man, aged 25, was also arrested on suspicion of common assault. The fourth man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
"They remain in custody at this time."
Chief Superintendent Howard Hodges said: “We thank the public for their support to ensure the Lewes Bonfire celebrations were once again a spectacular event that have been enjoyed safely.”
A force spokesman also said that 46 people were treated by paramedics with three people taken to hospital.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to three incidents across the evening in Lewes.
At 8.09pm firefighters extinguished a blaze which had set a telegraph pole alight and shortly after 8.40pm crews closed a road after smoke was spotted coming from a lamp post.
Firefighters were also alerted to reports of torches alight in the ground shortly before 8pm but were stood down.
The fire service also said they were called to reports of a firework in a bin on Hove seafront shortly after 9pm.
Crews extinguished the fire in the bin near the Peace Statue.
