Nigel Farage has been chosen as one of the effigies for this year's Lewes Bonfire.

Political figures are often satirised at the annual bonfire celebrations taking place this evening.

The mock-up of the controversial Reform MP will be burned this evening as part of the annual Lewes Bonfire celebrations.

Featured with a pint and cigarette in hand, the Brexit campaigner is featured holding a metal leash on two men with spiked dog collars on.

The two-men, one of whom is wearing a balaclava, are positioned throwing a beer bottle and a brick.

Farage can also be seen wearing a red armband.

The effigy was created by Cliffe Bonfire Society ahead of the event tonight.

The effigy appears to allude to rioting and far-right violence earlier in the year which followed the killing of three young girls in Southport.

Farage, MP for Clacton in Essex, was elected as an MP for the first time this year after previous failed attempts to make it into the House of Commons.

He made headlines earlier this year when he had a milkshake thrown over him in the seaside town on an early campaign visit.

Lewes Bonfire takes place this evening with more than 30,000 people expected to attend.

Sussex Police have advised people not to travel to the event as road closures are expected to be in effect and trains will be halted early.
