Brighton has one of the lowest rates of obesity in the country, but ranks fifth in weight loss prescriptions.
New research analysing prescription data from over 1,300 Primary Care Networks across the UK has revealed the highest rates of obesity and largest uptake of weight loss injections.
According to weight loss treatment provider Zava Online Doctor, Brighton stands out as a region with relatively low obesity levels.
Despite having one of the lowest obesity rates in the UK (15.1 per cent), the city ranks fifth in weight loss injection prescriptions, with over 12,500 issued.
The research identified Kingston upon Hull as the UK’s weight loss capital, with 70.5 per cent of adults classified as overweight or obese and 46,709 prescriptions for weight loss injections over the past four years.
Nottingham and Darlington follow closely behind. In Nottingham, 31,583 prescriptions were issued, with 63.9 per cent of adults classified as overweight or obese, while Darlington ranked third, with 22,321 prescriptions and an even higher rate of 71.8 per cent of adults struggling with weight.
