A man has died after being hit by a car on the A27.

The 69-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Arundel Road in Durrington on Wednesday evening.

The A27 was closed into the early hours of Thursday morning as investigation work continued. The man’s next of kin have been informed.

Sussex Police says it is still trying to establish the circumstances around the crash and are appealing for witnesses.

A spokeswoman for the force said that a crash between a vehicle and the man took place around 8pm on October 30.

The force said: “The A27 has reopened following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in Arundel Road, near Teign Walk on Wednesday, October 30, at around 8pm.

“Sadly, a 69-year-old man was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

“We are undertaking enquiries to establish the circumstances around the collision, and ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage to contact police.

The A27 was closed until just after 4am this morning.
