Brighton is a city that has plenty of historical interest around it, so it is perhaps not a surprise there are supposedly a few haunted places to be found in the area.
There are plenty of spots that are said to have seen a ghostly sighting or unexplained paranormal phenomena but there are a few which stick out a bit more than the rest.
If you're in the mood for a bit of ghost hunting or are just interested in learning a bit about the stories, here are five of the most haunted places to find in Brighton.
5 of the most haunted places in Brighton
Preston Manor
Preston Manor is said to be a place that has experienced multiple ghost sightings, and with its historical background that's maybe not too surprising.
The present building mainly dates from 1738 when the original 13th-century structure was rebuilt (some of which still remains inside).
According to Haunted Rooms, one of the most popular ghosts reported to have been seen in Preston Manor is that of a blonde nun, known as 'The White Lady'.
Meanwhile, in the 20th century, reports of a female ghost clad in grey were mentioned many times, having been seen walking on the staircase and on the parapet of the roof.
Visitors to the manor have also reported seeing phantom hands appearing and moving up and down one of the bedroom’s four-poster beds.
The Cricketers
The Lanes as a whole are meant to be one of Brighton's most haunted areas, and The Cricketers on Black Lion Street has gained some notoriety for ghostly sightings.
Having opened all the way back in 1547 it's perhaps not surprising that plenty of old spirits supposedly inhabit the establishment.
Bottles and glasses would fall off shelves, doors were heard to slam shut, and footsteps were heard climbing the stairs.
One manager even said they saw a man wearing a long black cloak on numerous occasions.
The grey nun that haunts The Lanes has also been seen just outside of the pub.
All Saints Church
All Saints Church in the suburb of Patcham is supposedly haunted by one specific spirit, known as the 'Pale Woman in Grey'.
The tall, thin spirit dressed in grey is said to appear in the pews on frosty nights.
According to the Paranormal Database, the woman appeared along a pew during a Christmas service, disappearing after a kind gentleman placed his coat around her shoulders, trying to keep her warm.

Churchill Square Shopping Centre
The area surrounding the Churchill Square Shopping Centre is reputedly home to Black Belly, Paranormal Database reports.
This is an apparition which is normally observed from the corner of the eye.
The figure is said to resemble a large bald man, wearing a shirt which does not quite cover his bloated and bruised stomach.
Additionally, the figure is also said to hover a few centimetres from the ground.
The Regency Hotel
The Regency Hotel is 200 years old and was converted into a small guesthouse in 1976.
It is said that the first floor rooms are haunted and two spirits can be seen on the property.
The first is a tall grey lady that walks around the hotel and can even walk between walls.
A young Victorian girl can also be seen. According to legend, she smelled gas emerging from a newly installed pipe, so she clambered onto the window ledge of an upper storey to escape where she fell to her death.
