Two abnormal loads have started a journey which mean the A27 is closed for parts of today.
Super Grid Transporters, electrical equipment for a National Grid project, are being driven along the A259 and on to a site near Uckfield via the A27 this morning.
A large section of the A27 from Patcham to Devil’s Dyke, Brighton, is currently closed while the operation takes place.
Starting near Basin Road North, Shoreham, the abnormal loads made their way along the A259 before reaching the A27.
The road is closed with disruption from 7am this morning until 3.30pm.
Sussex Police urged motorists to follow diversions as the operation continues makes its way to Uckfield.
The A27 is expected to remain closed for around eight hours.
