RSPCA Sussex: 5 pets who are on the lookout for new homes

Whether you want to adopt a dog, cat, rabbit or guinea pig, there is plenty of choice.

A few animals from the branch are listed below but more can be found on the centre's website.

Mickey

Age - Six years old

Breed - Yorkshire Terrier

Colour - Silver and Tan

Mickey is described as a "sensitive soul" who is looking for quite a specific home to move into.

He will need a female owner who is prepared to let him take things at his own pace and allow him time to settle.

Mickey can be worried by strangers, especially men, and is also anxious around children.

He is also sound sensitive and can be worried by loud noises so a quiet home environment is a must. 

Once Mickey knows you he is a happy, bouncy boy who loves fuss and attention and will sit on your lap or curl up next to you on the sofa.

Ideally, Mickey is looking for a very experienced owner without children or visiting children.

He needs his own secure, private garden and a fairly active owner who is prepared to continue his training.

Ralph

Ralph (Image: RSPCA) Gender - Male

Age - Three years old

Breed - Cane Corso

Colour - Cream Brindle

When Ralph arrived in the care of the RSPCA he was very anxious and required some quite in-depth behaviour training.

He also had a severe eye condition that impacted his vision and required an operation to fix this.

Whilst there is still a long way to go with Ralph he has improved significantly and becomes quite cuddly once he gets to trust a person.

He loves his toys, travels well in a car and mostly walks well on the lead but can be very strong at times.

Ralph is very wary of strangers and needs gentle, slow introductions when meeting new people.

Ideally, he would be the only pet in a new home which will also need to be adult-only.

Bandit

Age - One year old

Breed - Domestic Shorthair crossbreed

Colour - Tabby and White

Bandit came into the care of the RSPCA from a multi-cat household which means he has not spent much time socialising with humans.

He has been quite reserved and scared but has started to come out of his shell and reveal his true personality.

Bandit really enjoys some fuss, especially around his head and ears, and will always come forward for food.

In his next home, Bandit will need a garden he can access once he has grown in confidence.

Aubin and Alaska

Age - One year old

Breed - Crossbreed

Colour - White (Aubin) and Harlequin (Alaska)

Aubin and Alaska are two rabbits that the RSPCA are looking to rehome together.

They are both very strong-willed characters who like what they like so they would suit an adult home due to their wilfulness.

Both rabbits came to the centre neutered and microchipped, and they have recently been vaccinated and dewormed.

Aubin will need regular grooming due to his long mane.

In their next home, they will need a large setup, shed or wendy house with a run attached.
