The best places to live in Sussex in 2025 have been revealed.

Luxury lifestyle site Muddy Stilettos has selected the top 300 locations in the country to move to next year.

In Sussex, Alfriston, Amberley, Cuckfield, Hove, Kingston near Lewes, Petworth, Rye, St Leonards, Ticehurst and Worthing all made the cut.

The site said Alfriston was the “prettiest village in the county if not the country” and praised its medieval high street filled with antique shops, tea rooms and classic country pubs.

Amberley’s medieval castle, Norman church and chocolate box thatched cottages all got an honourable mention as well Cuckfield’s wealth of independents from food to fashion, quirky history and sense of humour.

Hove was described as a “vibrant, exciting and cultural haven by the sea” where residents can escape the hordes of students and tourists.

Of Worthing, the site had to say: “Coastal chic takes on a new form in this charming town complete with Art Deco architecture that dominates the seafront. There’s a thriving indie arts scene with cultural hot spots, a growing foodie scene.”

Petworth was lauded for its chocolate box prettiness , Rye for its “oodles of charm” and its picturesque rolling hills and historic buildings.

According to the site, St Leonards “has quietly been making waves thanks to its gentle quirkiness and a thriving art and foodie scenes”, while Ticehurst was recommended for its “proper British pubs”, a charming indie high street and charismatic locals.

And Kingston was dubbed an “exceptionally pretty village” perfectly positioned in the South Downs with “all the trappings of Lewes and Brighton nearby”.
