An acclaimed choreographer is to bring one of his dance shows to Brighton next summer.

Matthew Bourne will stage the latest production of The Midnight Bell, a dance performance based around a fictional London pub, at the Theatre Royal in New Road in July and August 2025.

The award-winning show will feature a cast of Bourne’s acclaimed actors and dancers telling the story for the first time in the city after first touring during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Speaking about the tour, Bourne said: “Touring was necessarily limited and audience confidence still slowly returning so I am particularly thrilled to be bringing back this heart-felt piece and to be presenting it in many venues for the first time.”

Set in 1930s London, The Midnight Bell is centred around the pubgoers of the titular establishment and their dramatic lives.

The show is the latest production for Bourne, best known for his renditions of Swan Lake and Edward Scissorhands.

The Midnight Bell will come to the Theatre Royal in Brighton from Wednesday, July 30, to Saturday, August 2.
