A spectacular Christmas display will not return this year.
For the last three years people walking down Saxifrage Way, Worthing, in the run up to the big day will have been stopped in their tracks by the breathtaking arrangement of twinkling lights, penguins, reindeers, Santas, puddings and much more.
But this year, organisers have made the decision to take a break due to personal circumstances.
They have promised they will be back with the festive bonanza next year.
“Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances we will be taking a break from our annual Christmas light display this year,” they said in a statement.

“We know this will be a huge disappointment to so many of you as it’s tradition to visit us. But for this year we must take a break to focus on ourselves and our families.
“This has been an extremely difficult decision to make but it’s the right thing to do for us.
“We will be back in 2025 in full strength ready to give you best display.
“We wish you all the best and hope you have the most amazing Christmas from all of us here at Saxifrage Way Christmas lights.”
The display has raised thousands for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance since 2020 and is usually sponsored by businesses and Worthing Lions.
Last year, the lights were turned on every day from November 26 until January 1 between 4.30pm and 9.30pm.
The news comes after Worthing Borough Council confirmed the town hall’s Christmas tree will not return again this year.
It was also axed last year.
A tree will be placed in Montague Street as usual.
The council said it is considering whether a tree could be planted outside the council building in Chapel Road.
A spokesman said plans for 2025 have not been considered.
“There will be a Christmas tree in Montague Street this winter to bring some festive cheer to everyone visiting and working in our town centre,” he said.
“We have prioritised this location as it can be enjoyed by more people.”
