One hundred artists have created their own individual, decorative eggs as part of a unique “EGGshibition”.
Chichester Festival Theatre commissioned renowned artists and designers to individually decorate 100 Plaster of Paris eggs for an upcoming auction in aid of The Nest Appeal.
The EGGshibition will showcase contributions from artists including Anne Desmet RA, Mariya Dykalo, Jeremy Gardiner, Nicola Green, Luke Edward Hall, Philip Jackson CVO, Kojo Marfo and Gavin Turk.
The eggs will be exhibited at Pallant House from October 8 – 20 and at Chichester Festival Theatre from October 23 – November 23. Bidding opens at the online auction on October 23 and closes on November 24. All proceeds from the auction will go to Chichester’s Nest Appeal.
The theatre needs to raise £1,500,000 by March 2025 to build a “much needed” third performance space to “incubate creativity in our community, hatch new work in progress and nurture growing artists”.
The 119-seater studio will have a thrust stage and sit nestled in the trees behind the Festival Theatre. The Nest is designed to offer a programme for a “younger audience in support of Chichester’s night time economy; to provide a base for the Emerging Artists Development Programme; and a space for CFT’s ever-increasing community programme”.
