Armed police descended on two Sussex schools amid reports of "disorder".
Officers with firearms went to Bishop Luffa School in Westgate, Chichester, and Chichester High School in the city's Kingsham Road after a report of disorder in the vicinity at 2.35pm today.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Due to the nature of the report, armed officers were deployed to the scene and carried out an extensive search of the area. No weapons were seen and no injuries were reported.
"Our enquiries are ongoing at this time, and officers will remain in the area for community reassurance.
"In the meantime, anyone with any information or footage of the incident is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 790 of 16/10."
Sussex Police have been contacted for further comment.
