The news of Ikea’s 2025 arrival in a shopping centre has been welcomed by a city boss.
The Swedish furniture giant is coming to Churchill Square Shopping Centre next year, parent group Ingka has announced.
Gavin Stewart, CEO of Brighton’s Business Improvement District, or Brilliant Brighton, has heralded the news as a “real testament to the success of the city”.
He said: “It’s great news for Brighton and a real testament to the success of the city that such a respected global brand has invested here.

“We are very much looking forward to working closely with Ikea and the Ingka Group to help make Brighton city centre an even better place for people to visit, work and live in.”
Ikea UK recently revealed that it was suffering a decline in sales from the previous year due to the impact of the cost of living crisis on shoppers, although it is now seeing an increase in demand.
The opening of the new Brighton store is part of its expansion programme, including the opening of a new city centre store in Oxford Street, London.
