Charleston has announced a jam-packed schedule of events for the autumn/winter programme.

The historic property will be hosting talks from acclaimed authors including Reasons To Stay Alive author Matt Haig, who will discuss his new novel The Life Impossible, and Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit writer Jeanette Winterson.

Jeanette Winterson will take the audience on a winter’s night journey with ghost stories of the past and present, and she will explore the unconventional queer relationship of Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson, with granddaughter of the couple, Juliet Nicolson.

An evening with Four Weddings and a Funeral actor Simon Callow and celebrated pianist Melvyn Tan will explore the relationship between music and dance.

On November 14, Songwriter Cerys Matthews will delve into the lyrical world of poet Dylan Thomas with readings and discussion accompanied by live music from multi-instrumentalist Arun Ghosh.

Talks and performances will take place in the Hay Barn at Charleston, near Lewes, the former modernist home and studio of Bloomsbury artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant.
