Mo Gilligan left his Brighton audience in hysterics while showing exactly why he is considered a staple in Britain’s comedy circuit.
The 36-year-old performed his new stand-up tour In the Moment at the Brighton Dome on Wednesday, which was a resounding success.
The manner in which Mo weaves everyday life experiences with his hilarious performing abilities acting out scenes from his childhood, new experiences with his new life of fame or just being a regular chap, captures the hearts of the audience and never fails to at least make someone crack a smile.
Though the BAFTA award winner’s comedy tends to focus on his cultural background, Mo being the offspring of two British-Caribbean parents, it is relatable to an audience member from any background though they may not understand or have lived through what he may have.
That’s the beautiful thing about Mo’s comedy, and why it makes him a cut above the rest – it breaks through the walls of cultural boundaries. It allows for understanding and mutual appreciation to relatable everyday life situations through excellent storytelling, great timing and a charismatic demeanour.
He interacted with the Brighton crowd with absolute ease and the audience reacted in kind. The laughter was endless.
Mo Gilligan is paving his own lane in comedy and this tour is testament to that.
His next stop are back to back shows at the Eventim Apollo in London on October 10 and 11.
