A points failure left trains stuck at platforms earlier today.
Southern reported the failure between Brighton and Haywards Heath at around 10.45am.
The issue meant trains could not run between the two stations.
Passengers were forced to seek an alternative route or wait out the disruption.
One disgruntled passenger stuck at Haywards Heath station said: "It's an absolute farce. I pay nearly £200 to commute every month and the least I can ask for is a functioning service.

"This is the second time in a week there has been an issue - how can rail companies justify charging so much for such a broken system?"
Trains were stuck at Haywards Heath station, at one point leaving only two platforms free.
Tickets were accepted on alternative services while disruption took place.
The issue was fixed just before noon and train services were returned to normal at around 1.30pm.
