A spokesman for the railway said: "The railway is currently suspended. Sorry for any inconvenience caused."
The railway opened in 1883 and celebrated its 140th anniversary last year. It was the first electric railway in the UK and has been expanded several times over the years.
Its route is one mile long, from Madeira Drive near the zip line to Black Rock.
