A shopping centre will welcome thousands of students for a late-night opening event next month.

Churchill Square in Brighton will open exclusively for students for a late-night shopping spree as the city gears up for the new university terms.

The shopping centre said it was “extending a helping hand” to students with discounts and giveaways on the night.

A spokeswoman said: “We recognise the challenges students face, particularly in today's economic climate.

“This event is our way of extending a helping hand, offering not just discounts, but a chance for students to connect, explore and feel at home in Brighton.

“It's about creating a sense of belonging in a new city for many and reinforcing community ties for returning students.”

Churchill Square will host students on Wednesday, October 9, opening exclusively from 6pm until 9pm.

The annual event will see shops open later and includes live entertainment as well as giveaways and product samples.

Anyone wishing to attend must sign up for the free event. Tickets can be found on the Churchill Square website.
