A popular market is set to return with live music.

The Cross Market is coming to Chichester on Sunday, September 29.

It will take place in North Street and East Street from 10am till 4pm and will feature “an innovative and quality market that showcases the best from creatives” from the city.

There will also be entertainment running throughout the event including a stilt walker.

The market has welcomed thousands of visitors since its pilot in 2021. In July, it ran alongside a summer street party.

“They provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate the talented producers and designers that our district offers.

“From a range of high street retailers to delicious street food and drink vendors, quality entertainers to top class local makers and producers, the event showcases the rich variety that we're lucky to have on our doorstep.

"The markets will also be hosting stalls from local artisans showcasing the creative talent we have in our area — from handmade jewellery and hand-crafted homewares to clothing and gifts, with live music and entertainment throughout.

"The Cross Market was introduced in response to increased demand from residents who wanted to see more varied markets and events to support the high street and it has been a fantastic success so far.

“We see people come from far and wide to visit the markets, including from Brighton, Surrey, and Hampshire. The district has so much to offer and it's great to see so many people come and visit."

The summer party in July brought various artists, a fashion show, children's magic performances, face painting, a carousel, trampolines and a reptile encounter to the city centre, while South Street and West Street were closed to traffic for an al fresco dining area.

The event was organised by Chichester District Council in collaboration with the Chichester Business Improvement District (BID), Chichester Rotary and Creative Beatz.
