Plans for the city's latest Tesco are moving forward as the company has applied for an alcohol licence.
The supermarket giant will open a new Tesco Express store in Western Road, Brighton, at the site of Currys next to Marks and Spencer.
Tesco has now applied to the council for a licence to sell alcohol every day from 8am to 10pm.
A sign on the store's shutters asks anyone who wants to make a representation to contact Brighton and Hove City Council's licensing team.

The council has already approved the plans for three Tesco signs above the shop, a projecting sign and a vinyl window sticker and plans for a gas cooler and air conditioning units.
Tesco already has stores a short walk away in Jubilee Street and Queen’s Road and the addition of the new Express will bring the total number in Brighton and Hove to ten.
Currys shut its doors in February last year when its lease came to an end.
