Coastguard crews, lifeboats and police were called to search for a ferry passenger who was reported missing.
Emergency services scoured the coast near the Newhaven Ferry Port in the early hours of this morning following the report.

An HM Coastguard spokeswoman said: "We have been assisting after receiving a report of a missing person on a ferry at Newhaven.
"Alerted at around 10.20pm on September 17, Newhaven and Birling Gap coastguard rescue teams were tasked alongside a HM Coastguard helicopter from Lydd, Newhaven RNLI inshore lifeboat and Newhaven RNLI all-weather lifeboat.
"Sussex Police and Border Force also attended. After a thorough search it was confirmed that the person was never on board."
