Hollywood star and Oscar-winner Brie Larson is coming to Brighton to appear in a play before its West End debut.

The Captain Marvel actress will star in Greek drama Elektra for a week-long run at the Theatre Royal in January.

Brighton theatre fans will be able to get a sneak peek of the show before Larson makes her West End debut in 2025.

Larson, who won an Oscar for her performance in 2015 film Room, said: “I couldn’t be more excited to perform in this Greek drama, or in better company collaborating with [director] Daniel Fish and [translator and poet] Anne Carson.

“Storytelling has always been the way I organise life, feelings and experiences. I look forward to sharing space with the wonderful West End audience while we explore this timeless story.”

Elektra, based on the ancient Greek play by Sophocles, follows the titular character after her father’s assassination.

Elektra will be staged at the Theatre Royal in Brighton from January 13 to January 18 next year then move to the West End at the end of the month.
