Police believe a house fire was started deliberately.
Emergency services descended on Creasys Drive in Crawley to tackle the blaze yesterday afternoon.
Firefighters from Crawley, Horsham, Storrington, Worthing and East Grinstead attended the incident alongside police officers.
Crews remained on scene for almost five hours and returned this morning to ensure all hotspots were fully extinguished.
No people were injured.
Sussex Police said the incident is being treated as suspected deliberate ignition.
A spokesman said the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area in the meantime.
Anyone with any information about the incident, including any mobile, dash cam or CCTV footage, has been asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 815 of 14/09.
