A globally renowned actor known for his role in top TV show Downton Abbey received an honorary degree from the University of Chichester for his work in film and theatre.
Hugh Bonneville was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Theatre at Chichester Cathedral.
The actor has reportedly lived near Midhurst for over 40 years and is patron of Primary Shakespeare Co, the National Youth Arts Trust and the South Downs National Park Trust.

Hugh is best known for playing Robert, Earl of Grantham in ITV drama Downton Abbey over six seasons.
He also appeared in films such as Notting Hill, Iris and the Paddington films with the latest instalment due to come to cinemas in November.
In 2019, the actor was appointed to the role of deputy lieutenant of West Sussex. Lord-Lieutenant Susan Pyper made the announcement with Julia Aisbitt and Peter Webb.
