A road has re-opened three days after a fatal crash involving a car and an overturned lorry.

Long Furlong near Worthing was closed on the morning of Monday, September 9, after a crash involving a large lorry and a car which saw the lorry partially overturn on the busy rural road.

The driver of a Kia Sportage was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash while the lorry driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed for several days due to recovery work and crash investigations by Sussex Police but has re-opened this morning in time for rush hour.

A spokesman for Sussex Police previously said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a fatal collision on the A280 at Long Furlong.

“The collision involving a Kia Sportage and a lorry happened shortly before 6am on Monday, September 9.

 "Sadly, the driver of the Kia was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The lorry driver, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries."

The road was closed for three days between the A27 near Worthing and A24 near Findon but re-opened this morning.
