A global rockstar who lives on the seafront stunned pubgoers when he performed an unannounced rendition of his band’s classic hits.
David Gilmour, guitarist and singer-songwriter for Pink Floyd, performed at The Neptune Inn in Hove on Monday night with his daughter Romany.
Romany had been performing a set that evening at the pub's regular Monday evening open mic night. Romany then invited Gilmour Snr on to the stage to perform a rendition of Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here title track.

Bertie Burton, general manager at The Neptune Inn, said:” It was an amazing night at The Neptune.
“We have some great artists play at our weekly Monday Open Mic, but no one expected David Gilmour to come up and play Wish You Were Here.
“It was an electrifying night, I’ve never heard the pub be so quiet whilst someone played.”
David Gilmour owns Medina House in Hove, built in 2020 to replace a 19th century bath house.
He put it up for sale for £15 million in August 2022 without success. The asking price was slashed to £10 million last year but it remains unsold.
Romany has recently duetted with Gilmour on a cover of dream pop duo The Montgolfier Brothers' Between Two Points. The track is featured on Gilmour's recently released new solo album Luck And Strange where Romany can be heard playing harp and singing backing vocals.
Bertie said: “The Neptune has been known as a live music venue for at least 30 years, so it means a great deal to us all that David Gilmour and his daughter Romany chose us to duet together.
“We have live acts on Friday, Saturday and Sundays every week, plus our Open Mic night on Mondays. Having someone of the Gilmour family’s quality play here only strengthens our motto 'Keeping Music Live'."
David Gilmour is currently gearing up for his upcoming tour of Luck And Strange, which will start in Rome at the Circus Maximus on September 27. He will play London's Royal Albert Hall in October.
