A man was rescued after getting into difficulty in the water.
Witnesses called the emergency services after seeing a man struggling in the water near the Brighton Palace Pier on Monday evening.
The man was later rescued by lifeboat crews who took him back to shore and handed him over to emergency services.

A spokesman for Shoreham RNLI said on X, formerly Twitter: "Our inshore lifeboat crew was launched to the aid of a person in the water just west of Brighton Palace Pier on Monday evening.
"The casualty was rescued into the lifeboat and taken ashore into the care of emergency services."
