The RNLI is looking for a new volunteer to fill a crucial role at one of its busy stations.

The launch authority role is "integral" to Brighton lifeboat station's running, the charity said.

The volunteer will be tasked with authorising the launch of the lifeboat in response to emergencies at sea.

The successful candidate will work closely with the station's crew and will play a key role in the station's daily operations, ensuring that all missions are conducted safely and effectively.

Roger Cohen MBE, operations manager at Brighton, said: "A launch authority is a key member of the station.

"They will be responsible ultimately for authorising the launch of the lifeboat on a life-saving mission. Equally, they will assist in the running of a busy lifeboat station with a great team of dedicated volunteers."

The RNLI said it offers comprehensive training to ensure that the new volunteer is fully equipped to handle the responsibilities of the position.

Applications close on October 10. You can apply here: https://volunteering.rnli.org/vacancy/launch-authority---brighton-568035.html
