A housing association has confirmed that a resident died in a fire at its sheltered accommodation.
Emergency services were called to Martlet House in Bannings Vale, Saltdean, yesterday morning, September 5, after a fire was reported.
A man in his 60s died at the scene and an investigation has been launched.
Southern Housing, which manages Martlet House, has confirmed that the man was a resident at the accommodation.
A spokesman for the association said: “We’re supporting residents following a fire at Martlet House yesterday.

“Sadly, one of our residents has died and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
“Our colleagues have been onsite to support residents and we’ll continue to work with the emergency services during this time.”
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "An investigation is under way to understand the full circumstances of the incident. At this time, there is nothing to suggest it was suspicious.
"Witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to contact police online or call 101 quoting serial 325 of 05/09."
