A teenage boy has been arrested after a graphic video of a dog being abused was circulated online.
Police received a report of a dog being injured at an address in Hastings yesterday evening, September 5.
A 13-year-old boy has since been arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary harm to an animal and common assault.
Robertsbridge Community College, north of Hastings, has shared an email to parents and carers following the incident.
It says it will be supporting students who came across the video.
It reads: “We are aware that a very distressing video was shared via social media last night involving a member of our school community.
“This matter is being dealt with by the police. We will be speaking to students today and offering support to those that may have seen the video and have been impacted by its contents.
“Please reiterate our own message with your child regarding the importance of not engaging with or sharing these types of videos and to ask for help if needed.”
A parent at the school, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “As an animal lover, I was shocked to the core that a child could be doing this to a family pet or any other animal.

“I have not slept since seeing the video and my 14 year old daughter is traumatised.
“Everyone who reported the vile act is concerned for the welfare of the poor dog.
“I am sick to the stomach that a child could do this to an animal.
“I can honestly say that if my child did this - I would disown them and there would be no forgiveness.”
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Police are aware of footage circulating online in relation to this report, and would like to remind the public that this is a live investigation.
“Please refrain from sharing or speculating online about anything that could prejudice criminal proceedings.”
The video, which The Argus has seen, shows a dog being injured by a person clad in a black mask.
