The shock closure of a wedding dress shop has left brides in a ‘panic’.

Whyte Weddings Bridal Boutique in Brighton Road, Worthing, has reportedly shut down after customers received an email to say the business had gone into liquidation with immediate effect and it will not be fulfilling orders.

The bridal shop’s website has disappeared after the store ran a “blow out” sale on August 3, with its Instagram account also reportedly having been deleted.

It is also appearing as "permanently closed" on Google.

Customers left in the lurch have shared comments on the business’s most recent Facebook post, with one writing “angry doesn’t even cut it” and that it’s going to be “a panic to sort something”.

Another said: “Hi, are you still operating? Your Instagram vanished and can’t get hold of the store, nor is your website working?”

One commenter said that the store had the dress that she had got married in and she was “absolutely desperate to get it back”.

However, wedding dress store Brides of Southampton has taken the lead with helping and redirecting customers.

Gemma Cranmer, the manager of the store, said: “We were contacted by one of our designers who said ‘we have got all these brides, the shop has shut their doors, can you help?’

“It boils my blood when this happens.”

Gemma has spoken to one of the brides who has been impacted by the closure and saved the important day.

“She said she is just cross and annoyed”, Gemma added.

“She received an email, which was just heartless. It is an extremely stressful situation to be in and a lot of brides just don’t know what to do.”

Gemma has advised anyone who has been impacted by the closure of a bridal shop to get in touch with the designer of the dress to establish the nearest stockist.

Gemma said: “They will have to pay for the dress again and then claim the money back.”
