A road has been reopened after a crash between a police car and a lorry.

The Old Steine in Brighton was closed yesterday from 8.45am following the incident, which caused a diesel spill on the road.

Witnesses said they saw the marked traffic car collide with the side of the lorry. Nobody was hurt in the crash.

The road was closed for the rest of the day and this morning, before it was reopened at around 1.30pm.

Buses were diverted along the seafront with stops in the Old Steine and St James's Street blocked by a cordon, which was extended several times as the diesel spill from the crash grew.

Stops such as St Peter's Church and Valley Gardens were also out of use while crash investigations and road resurfacing took place.
