A body has been found on a beach.

Police were called after a body of a man was found by passersby off the shore of Western Esplanade, Hove, shortly before 4pm this afternoon.

Dozens of emergency services were at the scene, including coastguard crews and paramedics.

Officers were standing at the edge of the beach telling people they could not go on to it.

The incident happened near Millionaires' Row, which is home to celebrities including DJ Fatboy Slim, real name Norman Cook.

A spokesman for Sussex Police confirmed a man's body had been found.

The force spokesman added: "Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the full circumstances of the incident."
