A range of animals has been spotted on an estate which is being rewilded.
Argus Camera Club member Heather Patterson visited Knepp, near Horsham, 3,500 acres of land undergoing a conservation project, for a walk on its trails.
Along the way she snapped pigs, cattle and horses roaming the site. A small group of horses were enjoying the hot day in a field, while one pig traipsed along a path.
The Knepp estate was taken over by Charlie Burrell in 1983 when it was used as a working farm but it soon became clear it was not financially sustainable.
In 2000, the dairy herds and farm machinery were sold to clear the estate’s debts. When Knepp received Countryside Stewardship funding in 2001, Charlie decided to transform the land into a site of nature-led conservation.
Now, the estate is home to “astonishing wildlife” and is said to be “shaping the future of nature conservation”.
