An overnight yellow alert for rain has been issued for the South.
The Met Office has warned of heavy showers and possible thunder from tomorrow at 9pm until Thursday morning at 9am.
In Brighton, the Met Office has predicted conditions will stay largely dry overnight, with a chance of rain between 10am and 1pm on Thursday.
The forecaster has warned of difficult driving conditions and road closures as well as chances of delays and cancellations to trains and buses.

It has also reported a slight chance of power cuts and of homes and businesses being flooded, as well as fast flowing or deep flood water causing a risk to life.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “While there is some uncertainty, and not all areas will be affected, scattered heavy showers on Wednesday evening may merge into longer spells of heavy, showery rain in places through Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
“Where heavy downpours occur, perhaps thunder in places, accumulations of 20-40 mm are possible in an hour or two, with the small chance of isolated accumulations over 50mm, potentially impacting the Thursday morning commute in some areas.”
