Owl statues from an art trail are to be auctioned off at a cathedral to support a children’s hospice charity.
The Big Hoot has seen brightly coloured owls dotted around Chichester and Arundel in the first art trail of its kind in West Sussex.
Now the artworks will be auctioned by Bargain Hunt’s Jonathan Pratt at a special event in Chichester Cathedral, raising money for Chestnut Tree House in Angmering.
Jonathan, who lives in neighbouring Hampshire, said: “Chestnut Tree House is a wonderful place. What they do for children and families is just fantastic and I’m delighted to be able to support them.”
As part of The Big Hoot trail, 30 owls were dotted around Chichester and Arundel over the summer holidays.
Each owl was uniquely decorated by an artist with every sculpture telling a different story.
Smaller owl sculptures were placed around indoor spaces and schools in the area.
The art trail was organised by Wild In Art which also ran the Shaun the Sheep art trail in Brighton and Elmer the Patchwork Elephant trail in Eastbourne.
The owls will be auctioned at Chichester Cathedral on September 17 at 7pm. Bidding for each owl starts at £3,000 and all proceeds go to Chestnut Tree House.
