Drivers are set to face delays for a whole week as a lane on a busy road will remain closed.
The A27 eastbound at Sompting, between the A24 south and the junction with the A2025, was shut on Monday after a vehicle crashed into the Hillbarn traffic lights.
Motorists have been facing long queues on the road at peak times, with tailbacks to the A24 at Worthing.

Now, National Highways has confirmed the lane will remain closed until noon on Wednesday, September 4.
According to the website One.network, which records roadworks, the lane is closed for emergency roadside equipment maintenance.
With schools across the county open again next week, motorists will likely face even heavier traffic in the roadworks area.
