A seafront hotel has been ranked in the top ten for afternoon tea in the UK.

The Grand Hotel spa in Eastbourne has been recognised for its luxury tea, pastries and sandwiches.

To mark Afternoon Tea week, which took place from August 12 to 18, Spa Seekers selected its top spots.

The Eastbourne Victorian retreat is on the seafront in King Edwards Parade and serves afternoon tea in the Great Hall and its lounges from 2pm every day.

Its grand afternoon tea, which features finger sandwiches such as smoked salmon, cream cheese and chive and honey roasted ham, pastries and savouries, accompanied by tea, coffee or a herbal infusion  costs £34 per person Monday to Thursday, or £38.50 Friday to Sunday. 

To add bubbles to the high tea experience, guests can upgrade to the champagne afternoon tea with a glass of Canard-Duchêne champagne for £42.50 Monday to Thursday or £48.50 Friday to Sunday.

For added luxury, guests can opt for the Louis Roederer champagne at a price of £48.50 per person Monday to Thursday, or £53 Friday to Sunday.

Other spas on the list include Rowhill Grange in Kent and Norton Park in Winchester.
