An Asda supermarket and a pub closed early after motorhomes arrived on a car park.

A number of caravans parked in Brighton Marina’s Asda car park on Friday afternoon.

On Saturday evening, Asda said it was asked to close early at the request of police dealing with an “incident”. It is not confirmed what the nature of the incident is or whether it was linked to the group.

The Master Mariner, a pub in Brighton Marina, also closed early yesterday. The general manager of the pub said on Facebook the decision was made to “put safety first”.

A spokesman for Landsec, Asda’s landlord, said: “On Friday afternoon, a large group of vehicles arrived on site, and over the weekend we saw a number of antisocial incidents.

“We’ve been cooperating with the police over the weekend, as well as our own security team, and can confirm the group has left the site as of this morning.

“We will continue to work closely with our brand partners, our security team and the police to investigate throughout the week."

Sussex Police have been contacted for further information.
